Hello all of my long lost friends and family. Sorry it has been over a year since I have updated our blog. I got so far behind that I started to feel overwhelmed by catching up so I just kept putting it off. Finally, I decided that enough is enough and I am just going to start posting from this point in our lives on. I hope all of you are well. We love you and miss you all.

Today was such a hot day so we decided to go to the mall and ride on the carousal. The girls had a blast. The funniest thing was that Grace was not scared at all. She wouldn't even let us touch her horse because she didn't want any help. On the other hand, Jane was a little more nervous and she would get very upset if I wasn't holding her hand the whole time. It is so fun to see the differences in their personalities.

For those of you who don't know what we are up to these days, I will give you a very short explanation. Roy graduated from Emory Law School in May then we moved to Arizona about 2 weeks later to live with Roy's Uncle Clark and Aunt Lynette while Roy prepares for the bar exam. So, here we are at Aunt Lynette's house swimming and having a great time.

Back in the hospital

For those of you who didn't hear, 4 days after Grace was born she ended up back in the hospital with a meningitis scare, which turned out to be nothing. She was put in the ICU for about 4 days while they waited for her spinal tap cultures to come back. After waiting 48 hours for that they decided to do another spinal tap because they felt like the growth in her culture was a contaminate, which gratefully turned out to be the case. So after 4 extremely emotional and stressful days we were able to come home. Wow, what a week it has been, it feels like a month, not a week. Roy and I would like to thank everybody for all of the prayers and support. This experience really showed us how much people love us and care about us. It is so comforting knowing we can count on help from so many people. We love you all.

Jane is doing pretty good with the arrival of Grace. Jane gets more and more used to her new little sister each day. She has grown up a lot during the past 2 weeks.

Grace Hazel Richter has arrived!!

Grace was born on March 25th at 10:16 am. I went in to the hospital Thursday night to get induced and during the night I went in to labor on my own. Everything went really well with no complications. Grace looks a lot like Jane did as a newborn. It will be fun to see if they continue to look alike.

Middle East Christmas

This Christmas we spent 3 weeks in the Middle East visiting Roy's and my family. Roy's family lived in Doha, Qatar and my family lives in Muscat, Oman. We were able to see both families while over there and we had so much fun. The 18 hour plane ride and the 9 hour time difference were the only downsides.

As we were waiting at the airport in Oman, an Omani lady came over to Jane, picked her up and gave her a kiss right on the cheek. You can see how big of a kiss she gave her by the lipstick that was left on her cheek. I was laughing so hard and Jane was just very confused.

Stairway of death

Here we are at this little town where they grow everything on terraces below their houses. This is an old staircase that goes down to the terraces. My family has hikes up them before and they warned us that they are very dangerous because the stairs are really narrow and if you were to fall you would literally fall off the side of the mountain. Roy and I were the only ones brave enough to attempt them. We started climbing up and once we got to where you see the local guys in the picture, they warned us, in broken english, to stop. I asked them why, and they said "small, very small" refering to the stairs. we still wanted to try, so then they started using hand signals to show a person falling off the side. At this point Roy was freaked out and he said 'if the locals don't think we should do it then there is no way we are doing it. ". It was still very cool to see even though we didn't get to go the whole way. It is probably for the better considering the whole pregnancy, off balance thing.

This picture gives you a really good veiw of what the terraces look like. They just cover the side of the mountain. Roy and I hiked all the way from the white structure behind us to where we are in the picture. It was so beautful.

Ruins

Here we are about to start a hike to these ruins of an old town. If you look behind us you will notice the town hidden in the mountain side.

Here we are inside the ruins. Behind us there is an old mosque. Roy and I went inside and there were huge weird lizards hanging out in it and Roy freaked out because he was afraid they might be poisonous or something... I doubt it :).

Hot springs

One of the days we were in Oman we drove to this little town where there are natural hot springs. The town built aqueducts that bring the water down to a date plantation. The hot springs seemed to be a popular place for the locals to hang out. They were swimming and playing in the water. The women weren't allowed to get in unless they were fully clothed.

Jane even wanted to get in. All of the locals were asking to take pictures of Jane. I think they were thrown off with how blond and pale she is.

Oman hike through canyon

Here we are in Oman with my family. This day we went on a hike through this canyon and it eventually brings you to fresh water pools of water where you can swim and cliff jump. This is one of the most beautiful places I have ever seen.

People still live in the canyon. Their homes are just built right into the mountain side with stone. If you aren't looking you may not even notice because they blend in so well to the mountain side. They have little terraces where they grow things. This man is carrying some kind of grass to the bottom of the canyon, probably to feed his animals. The reason they live up here is because there is fresh water that flows through the canyon.

This is us swimming in at the end of the hike. The water was so cold, but you just had to get in because it was so beautiful.

Doha Animal souk

We also went to the animal souk where goats, camels, and other animals are sold. This souk is basically for the locals. They usually buy the animals to eventually slaughter and eat or sell them. Jane LOVED the goats she was laughing and touching all of them.

While in Doha we also went to the fish souk where fresh fish is sold daily. It was so dirty and smelled horrible, but is was very interesting to see.

We loved going to the souk while we were in Oman and Qatar. The souks are basically a bunch of little shops where they sell all sorts of things from tourist souvenirs to cooking spices.

Sand dune trip

One of the days in Doha, Qatar, visiting Roy's family, we went on a sand dune adventure. We had Qatari tour guides that drove us through the sand dunes in big land cruisers. It was quite a rush at times because we basically were driving off cliffs. After the dunes they took us to a camp where they fed us authentic food and we played at the beach.

We got to ride a camel while in Doha. Roy was the most scared out of all of us. Jane couldn't decide whether to laugh or cry, but I think over all she loved it.

Disney World Adventure

Last week My friend, Lucy and I randomly decided to take a road trip to Disney world. We had SO much fun. I couldn't believe how happy Jane was. After every ride she would say "again, again". Her favorite ride was It's a small world.

Jane slept an 1 1/2 hours in my arms one of the days. My arm was about to fall off after, but she woke up in the best mood when she realized we were still at Disney World.

Jane loved trying on all of the Minney Mouse ears.

Jane stood there the whole time watching the parade go by. She was waving at the characters as they went by, and she was dancing to all of the songs.

Jane thought this was SO funny. When she falls on the ground it is because she is laughing so hard she can't control herself. It was all fun until she fell and hit her head (as you will see). What a funny girl.

We were at Macy's the other day and Jane found these boots on her own and insisted on wearing them. Everybody stopped and laughed at her as she attempted to walk around the store in them. She is just obsessed with rain boots!

Hey everyone, sorry it has been so long since we updated our blog. We have had a really busy summer. Roy had an internship in Portland for the summer and it turned out that Roy's family was also in Portland, so we had a great time. Everything went really well all summer, and now we are home in Atlanta. It is nice to be settled in again. It should also be noted that I am about 13 weeks pregnant. We are super excited for a new little one in our family. Roy's school is going really well and he is also teaching seminary for our ward. He is really busy but he is doing great. Anyway, that is a quick summary of the past few months of our lives. Check out the rest of the postings for more details.

Our Neighbors in Portland had 3 dogs that Jane was obsessed with. She was playing in the sprinklers and somehow stripped down to nothing. She walked through the flower beds to go play with the them. sneaky little girl.

Roy's Portland Trip

Roy went to Portland last weekend for an interview for a summer internship. We don't know if he got it yet, but either way he had a great time with his sister's (Channing) family.

My sick, rotted out and chipped tooth

For those of you who don't know what I have been going through with my teeth, here is the story. I have never had teeth problems my who life until now. When I was pregnant with Jane I started having a lot of teeth problems. Two weeks ago I had to have 2 root canals and I have 8 more cavities besides that. This tooth is one of the ones I had a root canal on. They put a temporary filling on it until they put a crown on it this Saturday. While I was eating Yesterday a huge chunk of my actual tooth fell off. At first I thought it was the filling, but then I realized it definitely wasn't.

Just in case you can't tell, the grayish, greenish, black part is where the tooth broke and that is the rotted part of my tooth. The whiter part is the temporary filling. So sick, I know.

One of the days we went to Benicia, where I grew up part of my life. While we were there we brought back a ton of memories and went to a park we always used to go to . We had a lot of fun.

On Sunday we attempted to go to church at the chapel by the temple. It turned out that the English ward had stake conference at a different time, so we missed it. We took some fun pictures by the temple though.

While we were in San Fransisco we went on a bike ride all of the way across the golden gate bridge. Jane did really well until she had a stinky about 3/4 of the way through. It was such a beautiful ride. I wish we could afford to live in SF some day. I fell in love with that city.

Jane is a Romney supporter also! She really had a lot of fun at the rally. She loves to watch people. What a goof ball.

After Romney's speech I ran up to the front to meet him. You would not believe the swarm of people. I had Jane in the snuggli and we just pushed our way through the crowd. Once I finally got really close to him I stood up on a chair so he could see me. He was shaking so many people's hands around me and he was about to walk away, but I shook my hand at him and yelled "Mitt". He looked me right in the eye and shook my hand. I was the last hand he shook before he turned around. By the way, the chair I was on was right behind the balding guy with a camera. So I was super close! What a cool experience!! I honestly feel that Romney is a very good person. It was so interesting to actually look in to his eyes because I could just feel a really good presence about him. What a cool guy! Mitt Romney for President!
By the way, I went by myself. Sort of weird, hah? Roy would have had to miss 2 classes, so there was no way he could have gone. He was SOOOO disappointed. It made him feel better that I got to meet him.

Monday I went to a Mitt Romney rally. It was so much fun!!! They estimated that there were about 700 people there. I got there a little early, so I was pretty close to the front. This was one of the coolest experiences of my life. I don't know why, but it was just so amazing to see him in real life. Go Mitt!!!!!!!

The Pink Pig

We rode the pink pig this week with some of our friends from our playgroup. The pink pig is an Atlanta tradition. Basically, it is a cute little train at the mall during Christmas time. All of my Atlanta friends kept telling me that we had to ride the pink pig. We had fun, Jane couldn't decide if she loved it or hated it. She would smile, then curl her lip in sadness, then smile again.
